8 Things You Don’t Know About Derrik

My friend Derrich participated in a little game of tag, and 8 things we dont know about each other. I found it quite interesting honestly. In fact I followed the other people that have participated, many of which I know from blogging, and it was fun. Derrich tagged me, and here are my 8 hidden secrets.

Each player must post these rules first.

  • Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
  • People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
  • At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
  • Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog. Here are my secrets:
    1. I have wanted my REAL first name to be Otto since I was about 10. No one ever liked it. I sort of changed it in college, but it didnt stick. I am okay with Derrik now, just took 36 years to get used to it.
    2. My wife, Sunny and I met in college, the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I was 20. We took a black and white photo class together (where we met). I asked her to pose nude, but she didnt. Im still trying. .
    3. Sunny and I did not communicate for 7 years. When cleaning out some stuff in my basement about 9 years ago, I found a letter she had once written me. I wrote a note to the return address that was on the letter. We spent about 3 weekends together (she was living in Las Vegas, I was living in Minneapolis) before deciding to get married.
    4. I really want a daughter.
    5. I started working when I was 15. My first job was Taco Bell. I quit the day they asked me to clean the bathroom (roughly 2 weeks into that job). My second job was for B. Dalton. I worked part time through high school, and a little into college. When they opened the first Barnes and Noble (then Bookstar) in Las Vegas, I was part of the opening crew. After a few weeks I was promoted to a manager. My cumulative years with the Barnes and Noble corp is over 8 years(the majority of it as a manager, and/or a supervisory position).
    6. I long to go to Japan.
    7. My goal is to be able to stop working (by choice) when I am 50. Anyone that knows me will say Ill never stop working, however I want that choice for myself. We aim to retire in a quaint condo near Nice France.
    8. I dont want my kids to take life as seriously as I do. I hope they have tons of fun.

    1. When we first learned I was pregnant and thinking of a name for boy/girl (before finding out we were to have twin boys), Derrik wanted to name (if a boy) Griffin Otto. You can imagine why I did not agree to it. The boy’s initial would have been G.O.D! You know how cruel high school kids can be. We got a Griffin but no Otto!

    2. I know of a Nice Condo you can retire in on France Avenue!

    3. Griffin Otto woulda been sweet. (Sorry, Sunny. Stop hitting me.)

    4. Ok I’m tagged! I’ll come up with 8 things soon, just wait!

    5. With initials G.O.D. not only High school would be rough but from kindergarten up into adulthood…
