Minneapolis Association of Realtors and bad MLS districts
This Minneapolis Association of Realtors is the keyholder to how we list and find properties in Minneapolis proper.
This is the Minneapolis district map:

The borders really do not follow consumers desires. For instance, I have a listing on 25th and Blaisdell. Our average buyer is looking for something near Uptown, which is MLS district 300. However I have been forced, and threatened with fines, if I do not use the Powderhorn area code, which makes little sense.
Does this impact you? Yes, in two ways. First if you are looking for a home, you might not find everything you want because of the bad area map borders. Or if you are selling a home, it might be miscategorized.
What really adds injury to insult is that the holder of the MLS data actually takes property addresses, and stores the GPS coordinates in the database. This means with a little bit of coding we could zero in an area and create our own search area boundaries.
If you think this is having an impact on your home buying/selling experience, please call the Association of Realtors and voice your opinion. The number is 952.933.9020
