Beer and Real Estate, my personal favorite

Anyone know that cool old Schmidt brewery on West 7th Street in St. Paul.  I remember going there when I was young with good ol’ dad.  He was a beer sign collector and was always hitting them up for beer signs.  From an investment perspective, some of the old beer signs sold for a good amount of money.

But now there is a real estate developer from Portland Maine that has bought the land and is planning a little Brewtown.  How cool!

The project is to include a lot of green space, and green construction.  I am personally excited to see more of the plans.

Anyone else like beer and real estate?  I am meeting some friends for a “guys night out” February 1.

  1. Same thing happened in San Antonio. The old Pearl Brewery (and Pabst Brewery) is JUST north of downtown San Antonio. Silver Ventures (a San Antonio bunch) and Aveda (a company from your neck of the woods) have partnered up on the deal.

This article is 2 years old (I’m too lazy to go find something more recent), but it’s pretty close to being complete…ok, well about 40%. But that’s quite a bit considering the city plans to extend the already popular Riverwalk (yes, Mark Cuban…we cleaned it) North of through this complex and beyond. Kinda exciting…especially when beer is involved.

  2. [...] On a somewhat related note, I’d also like to welcome Derrik Dyka to my blogroll. He posted a story titled Beer and Real Estate, My Personal Favorite, which is about a similar project set to begin in his hometown of Minneapolis. Derrik is a realtor in Minneapolis among other things. Check out his blog sometime soon. Posted in Random/Rants    _uacct = “UA-690331-2″; urchinTracker(); [...]
