I was killed by three radio stations. drive 105.1, 105.3, 105.7
Folks what happened? At first I laughed when I got in the super sporty Honda Odyssey this morning and heard the “Love 105″ on the radio. I thought it was a joke!
Then my eyes swelled up and a tear dropped. Not because of the heart felt love song, but because my radio station has gone missing.
I dont know much about radio and marketing but can there really be more money in marketing on a Love Song radio station? Say it aint so!
I spend a lot of time driving and Drive 105 was my best friend. Now the URL  has even left me for a love song.
Ironically… this leaves us with only one other choice, a non commercial radio station. The Current 89.3 will be our new friend. Or is it time to go Satellite?
If you feel the same, send an email over. Maybe we can get it back, you know, if we all pool together.Â

I know how you feel Derrik..My brother and I used to go to school every morning listening to a station then it got taken off air!!

I was driving home today, windows rolled down, sun beating on my brow…I took in a deep breath of that spring air and reached over to switch on my favorite station ready to feel the beat of some good tunes… when the chorus of Bob Denver’s “Country Road” blared from my speakers!
I instantly yelled “WTF!”
My perfect day was ruined.
Steve no matter what you say here we all know you love Bob Denver.
I just want to comiserate with someone, I only just found out today. I was dropping my neice off at school this morning when it happened. I too was enjoying the sunny day and drive 105 is a staple in my car and usually has some excellent music…except for talking heads and nxs, which is the only thing I won’t miss about the station, but anyway, I hit the power button and there was some strange music on there. I assumed it was just a new song that I hadn’t heard, wouldn’t be the first time. A few minutes later I noticed there was some more really gay music playing on there. WTF. But a part of me already knew what had happened, accepting it only took a little more time and confirming it happened a few seconds ago when I attempted to access their webpage. We can however take heart in that whenever an alt. radio station dies another seems to pop up. I believe before 105.1 it was 104.1 and some other before that. So be patient….
Ryan, so with you. We like the Current, however its too frequent they play a song that we dont like, and it always seems to be the extended remastered 14 minute long version of whatever it is…
How did Drive just disappear - there one day, gone the next - I am so sad!! I loved having a station to hear new songs by new great artist and have an escape from some of the crap blaring on 101.3……
My feelings precisely about the current. I value it for the odd new song I hear, but I got enough of that with Drive. And true that, I don’t know how they manage to find such lengthy versions. And don’t get me started on the DJ’s, that was one of the things I liked most about the current, the DJ’s never talked for more than a minute. More music, less talk.
Im still torn on what to listen to. The last few days seems to be all radio ads, Im pulling out my hair
woops, meant to say the lack of dj-ness was one of things i liked most about the Drive, God rest its soul.
WTF! I am in sorrow! My favorite concert memory was Weezer! I won VIP and meet and greet from 105.at 1st Ave it was the best time ever! How else will I hear Lilly Allen or Artic Monkeys no other station plays that music. W.D.B.G- Where Did Bryan Go? Bryan the best DJ he must be wondering the streets-cold,hungry,and stationless. Do you think this will change back? They left without any warning!?
I hate the radio now
I am so with you. I was just driving and hitting seek through radio stations. There is not one decent station out there. Minneapolis radio has always been a bit of a downer in my opinion, the old drive 105 was its best station in my 30+ years.
I was mortified to hear there was no more Drive105. They were the only station that played a wide variety of alternative music here in the Twin Cities…no more Tori Amos, Dave Mathews, Sublime, Green Day, Tears for Fears, The Killers, and Modest Mouse, etc. If anybody knows of an alternate station that plays a wide variety of Alternative music please let me know. If not, I guess I’ll be listening to CDs from now on.
